The Bible -- The Word of God

2Tim.3:16  All scripture is given by inspiration of God,

2Pet.1:20-21  Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.  [21] For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

2Tim.3:16-17  ...and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  [17] That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Luke.10:18  And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.  Isa.14:12  How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

Luke.24:27  And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

Isa.8:20  To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

Luke.16:29-31  Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.  [30] And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.  [31] And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

2Thes.2:3, 9-12  Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;...  [9] Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,  [10] And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.  [11] And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:  [12] That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

1Tim.4:1  Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

Heb.4:12  For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Webmaster's Commentary

If the Bible is not inspired by God, then the Bible is no better than any other human attempt to explain the unknown. If there is no objective source from which to evaluate miraculous claims and the validity of supernatural manifestations, then we are left to blow about in every wind of doctrine. In the end, we are left only with our speculation and conjecture... in other words, we know nothing and any belief is but wishful thinking.

But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.  [8] For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.  [9] This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation. (1Tim.4:7-9)

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.  [2] For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,  [3] Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,  [4] Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;  [5] Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.  [6] For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,  [7] Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.  (2Tim.3:1-7)
